Sorry for the accidental double-rec: here, have this one instead!

Story: Boys (or, Down With The Patriarchy!)
Author: uktechgirl
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: Doctor Who/Angel crossover. Shortly after taking up residence at Wolfram and Hart, Angel’s office plays host to a certain blue box.
Characters/Pairings: Ace/Fred, Seventh Doctor, various Angel characters
Warnings: none
Word Count: ~3,400 words

Recced because: This is an absolutely brilliant story. The crossover really and truly works (and I'm not generally a fan of Angel, so it had to work extra hard for me), bringing in Ace, who has something of a Slayer about her, and intertwining Fred and Ace's storylines, as well as the mythologies of both shows, all without trying too hard and forcing things that don't fit. All of the voices, from both teams, are dead-on perfect (Angel at the beginning is particularly hilarious), and the style is intriguing and manages to be appropriately serious while also having a light touch. And Ace and Fred make a fabulous team, with the relationship aspect played softly, hinting at something between the two women that could be amazing.

Story: Mistitled
Author: calapine
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1595
Author's Summary: The one way the Doctor could remember his name.
Characters/Pairings: River Song/Ten
Warnings: None

Recced because: Calapine does the impossible. She manages to tell the story of River and the Doctor's name in a beautiful and poignant way that doesn't detract from the mystery that's driven the series for 45 years. I can only hope the Moffat years live up this.

Story: Sugar, Sugar
Author: Livii
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1,450
Author's Summary: "Come on," Martha said, "hop on the back of my scooter; there's just room enough for two." 1969 has unexpected pleasures.
Characters/Pairings: Martha/Harry Sullivan, Ten
Warnings: None

Recced because: When I put together my rec list for this week, I had no idea that livii would be one of my fellow reccers, or that another one of her Martha/Harry stories would be linked this week. But I'm reccing this story anyway, because it's lovely.

I have a soft spot for any fic in which the characters accidentally (and temporarily) have to live normal lives, and 1969 fic falls squarely into that category. Pairing Martha Jones with Harry Sullivan, who would have been her contemporary at the time, makes this particular 1969 fic that much more special. Bumbling, slightly stuffy, sweet-natured Harry meets his match in Martha, a relationship livii has explored in other stories, but this one recounts their earliest days together – a first meeting with the accident-prone Harry, and subsequent dates that culminate in Martha's revelation that she's somewhat more than she appears to be. It's a charming love story between what looks on the surface like a very unlikely pair, but by the end of this story, Martha and Harry seem made for each other.
