Story: Afterlife Romance on a Train
Author: Bubbles San
Rating: all ages
Word Count: 794
Author's Summary: Once upon a time there were two people. They were very much in love. However, due to an unfortunate string of coincidences, they never knew it at the same time.
Characters/Pairings: Toshiko Sato/Owen Harper
Warnings: Spoilers for Torchwood S2 finale "Exit Wounds"
Recced because: I'm taking a side trip in the Whoniverse to Torchwood, with this story. It stars two of my favorite Torchwood operatives: quietly strong Toshiko Sato, computer whiz and researcher extaordinaire, and the man she's lately cared for, Owen Harper, the brilliant doctor who only lately - very lately - has realized his feelings for her. Bubbles San takes a lightly stylized tone in this short, and sweet, story. Far from hampering her respectful grasp of both characters, or their interaction with each other, this deliberate fairy-tale illuminates both.

Story: Ghosts of Me
Author: genagirl
Rating: all ages
Word Count: 1150
Author's Summary: Owen is gone - but he remains.
Characters/Pairings: Toshiko Sato/Owen Harper
Warnings: Spoilers for Torchwood S2 finale "Exit Wounds"
Recced because: genagirl's command of the language is enviable in this illustration of Owen's exploration of his surroundings, his comrades, and his pending journey immediately post Exit Wounds. It's complex without being turgid, and the result is a surprisingly moving story. (Because I missed a day, I'm doing two today. Both are Torchwood, both deal with the same subject, but with very different attitudes and in very different styles. I hope you find that it's fun to compare, contrast, and enjoy!)
