Rec: Series 4 in Drabbles

Author: Eledhwen/torn_eledhwen
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1,438
Author's Summary: 14 episodes. 100 words per episode.
Characters/Pairings: Ten, Donna
Warnings: None

Recced because: This is part of torn_eledhwen's ongoing recap of each series in drabble form, and though her three previous entries are also very good, this one is my favorite. All but one of the drabbles are told from Donna's point of view, exploring her emotions during and after each episode in compact but lyrical form. The "Journey's End" drabble is especially poignant, describing Donna's exhilaration at discovering her new power as the Doctor-Donna, and concluding with a single, powerful sentence that reminds you how tragic Donna's ending really was.
an allegorical figure on the lam, meanwhile...

REC: The Doctor's Rib

These are the recommendations of the Calufrax reccer Biichan. My week-long mission is to explore strange new genres, to seek out new authors and new pairings, and to boldly rec where I have not recced before.

Story: The Doctor's Rib
Author: Azar
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4549
Author's summary: Hope can come from unexpected places.
Characters/Pairings: Female!Eleventh Doctor/Ninth Doctor, Female!Eleventh Doctor/Rose/Jack
Warnings: Somewhat akin to babyfic. Kindasorta. Conceptionfic perhaps?

Recced because: Because it has my absolute favorite way of repopulating the Time Lord species that I have ever found in Whofic. And besides, it makes sense, somehow, that there'd be a clear biological reason for the Doctor to suddenly regenerate into a woman.

And, well, I have a rather large soft spot for the story in general, given that it was the first Doctor Who fanfic I ever read—dating back to the days when I was a casual viewer of a few random episodes and not yet a full-fledged fan of the show—as well as the one that introduced me to the whole girl!Doctor concept. It's all been jossed, of course, but I still feel like the story itself has held up rather well over the years.

(Oh, and if you're wondering about the whole mission statement above, I've decided to challenge myself this week to only rec people whom I've never recced in Calufrax before. I've been worrying lately that I'm falling into a bit of a rut, so this is a good way to snap out of it.)
