Recced because: This is a wonderful look at Evelyn's thoughts during the last few scenes of the audio. It has the same narrative feel as the audio which makes it click all the more as a tag to Assassins in the Limelight.
History was more than a profession for Evelyn; it was also her passion. That said, she really had no desire to live out the rest of her life in the nineteenth century. Leaving aside her complete lack of money and useful connections, she didn’t know how to bake without an electric oven. She was almost certain to get soot in her cakes (assuming that she could even locate decent chocolate at this time), and that sounded like a horrid way to end her days.
Still, Evelyn wasn’t the type to sit and mope about her fate, horrid or not. She needed to dust herself off, figure out how to support herself in a society that didn’t believe in female academics, and then go out and do what needed to be done. And as soon as she sorted Lizzie out, that was exactly what she’d do.
